About Amitavati

Amitavati is a group of buildings in about 5.5 hectares of land with orchards, a kitchen garden, a swimming pool and a meditation dome. The area is surrounded by pine-forested mountains.

Free range chickens provide eggs and there are crops of grapes, olives, cherries, quinces, apples, pears and figs. There are beautiful walks in the surrounding hills with views across the valleys. There is almost no light pollution so night walks can often be enjoyed in silence with star-filled skies. Great for watching shooting stars!

The main house has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and the outhouses provide additional accommodation. There is no mains electricity, telephone or water supply but the house is supplied by a combination of solar collectors and generators for electricity, a well for water, a solar tank for hot water, gas bottles for the hob, fridge and additional hot water needs, and logs for the fire. The best use is made of resources by recycling waste solids and water. Organic waste is composted or fed to the chickens. Waste which cannot be recycled on site is taken to the ‘eco park’ in the local village.
